× Vancouver is known internationally for its spectacular beauty, friendly citizens and vibrant multi-cultural milieu. Beneath the glossy surface lies a complicated and eccentric city ripe for parody. In a series of vignettes VTS’s quick-witted improvisers lampoon such local stereotypes as our obsession with fitness (Grouse Grind and yoga anyone?), quirky neighbourhoods (The Drive, Main St., Kits, Gastown), and foodie scene (coffee culture, craft breweries/distilleries, avocado toast) that have earned Vancouver its ‘Lotus Land’ nickname. Our ‘wet coast’ winters, burgeoning bike lanes, ‘affordable’ housing and hipsters are only a few more entertaining and endless comedic inspirations. As in all VTS shows, the plot, characters and action are co-developed with the audience - utilizing their suggestions to drive the action and create on-the-spot, unscripted, theatrically-infused comedy.

The Improv Centre
× In this winner-takes-all contest you won’t see a ‘Peruvian necktie’ or a ‘Rubber guard’ but you will see opponents face off in a fierce competition of wits for who can win the most laughs. In MIA, two Improv Directors go head-to-head as they put a team of improvisers through a set of grueling and hilarious improv formats.
Throughout, as in all VTS improv, the audience is called upon to assist the action with their suggestions and shouted encouragement. No one knows what will happen next in these edge-of-your-seat matches.

WTF - What the Fun! Friday July 27 2018 at 11:15 PM

The Improv Centre
× End your week with laughs at WTF – What the Fun! With the aid of audience suggestions, WTF takes its inspiration from the quirky stories found in the weekly news and on-line. Recent gems found on the news wires include: “Fish fall from the sky in Northern Mexico,” “Shark nearly chokes to death on moose, is saved by Canadian bystanders,” and “Goat refuses to leave Sask. Tim Hortons, gets ‘arrested’ by RCMP.” Part of the show features ‘re-interpretations’ of fun times had by audience members by adding our own humorous and unpredictable spin to their Instagram photos or written anecdotes. Join us for late night comedy that never sleeps Fridays and Saturdays at 11:15 p.m.
