Intensive - Grounded W/ Lauren McGibbon Sunday June 30 2019 at 10:00 AM

The Improv Centre
× Intensive - Grounded 2.0
Teacher: Lauren McGibbon

Time: 10am to 4pm

Location: Improv Comedy Institute

Pre-Req: This is a class for experienced improv students who have a strong, consistent understanding of improv basics and scene work. Students MUST be graduates of the ICI Core program, Rookie League or have completed the first Grounded Intensive. If you are unsure if this class would be a good fit for you, please contact Rachelle Goulter at outreach@vtsl.com. Special permission to take this class may be given on a case by case basis.

Description: Often times we improvisers are given the note to be grounded in our character and our scenes, but what does that even mean? Lauren McGibbon explores further the techniques and exercises learnt in the first Grounded intensive. Break down the nerves, get connected to your breath, enhance your voice, set an intention, be bold in your choices and perform in a whole new way.
The day starts with a crash course in breath and vocal technique to ensure you are connected to your instrument. Followed by classic acting warm ups and exercises from Chekhov, Stanislavsky, Meisner and more. By the afternoon students will be set up to learn a long form format that challenges improvises to bring realism to the absurd.
Every improviser brings their own personalities and experiences to the stage. This intensive will show each student how to perform with authenticity, honesty and bravery.
